Sunday Funday

So to say this Summer has been hot, would be the biggest understatement.  I dont think we have had rain in over a month.  Maybe 2.  Well that all changed this morning.  When we noticed  it was raining, I took the kids out to the front porch to watch.

It was a blessing because those 2 were driving me nuts!  Bickering, whining, and climbing all over me.

When we got out there, it was only like 72 degrees.  It felt great.  Boogie looked over and asked me if he and Shelby Lynn could go stand out it the rain.  My automatic response was NO. But I couldnt think of a reason why they couldnt.  Well that turned in to a whole morning out in the rain.  It ended up being a lot colder than I thought.  The rain itself was super cool.  SO the morning ended with towels and hot chocolate.

Popsicle picnic

beep beep

brrrrr

When we got inside it still felt like they were chilled so i let them take a warm bath together.  Shelby  Lynn has a new obsession with Boogies "woo woo" so I made him put on trunks.  Well then he insisted on wearing water wings then too.

The rain and bath really knocked them out, so they took a nap.  I got to take one too!!!  This is how they woke me up.
my ass looks huge and i may or may not have a wedgie.

she was sitting (bouncing) on my head

Even after the rain had finished, it was a much cooler day then we are used to these days.  So we took frick and frack to the park.

such a good daddy

It really was a pretty sweet day.  I'm ending with laundry, Olympics, and malibu and diet  :)  Hope you all had a great weekend as well

Its not even noon and I've had poop on me.

**** I originally wrote this blog at 11am on Friday(its now 10:17 Saturday night). I thought I posted it, but by blog is being weird. *****

I've already had a breakfast picnic at the park, went grocery shopping,  and a few loads of laundry. Oh, and cleaned up a poopy littlle girl.  She had poop from head to toe.  I'm serious.  There was poop on her face and in her hair.

Let me back track a bit.  On my days off, I'm kind of bad.  If Shelby Lynn wakes up before I'm ready to get up (earlier than 8am), I will bring her to the living room and put her in her pack n play.  I give her a cup of milk and turn on either Curious George or Yo Gabba Gabba.  This will buy me anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour.  Holla!

Anyways, this morning was no different.  Shelby Lynn yelled my name about 7.  Boogie was still asleep, so I grabbed my Shelbs gave her kisses and some milk and put her in her pack and play.  About 8 I hear her hollering for me so I went and got her.  As i was giving her kissses, I realized she stunk.  Thats when I noticed the poop on her cheek.  Then the hair.  Then EVERYWHERE.  So after a bath, and taking every toy out of the pack n play and throwing them in the tub full of bleach water, we dediced to get out of the stinky house.

We went to the park and had a pancake breakfast picnic.  After about 40 minutes (even at 9am) we were all drenched.  I cant wait for fall.

Does anyone have any good poop stories to share?

Good Bad TMI, Date Night Edition

Good
-The Food!  We went to this brick-oven pizza place for pizza and beer.  OMG it was so good.  I started with a spinach gorgonzola  salad and had a pizza with spinach, goat cheese, chicken, strawberry and a balsamic reduction.  Sooooooooooooo Good!!!!

- The wait.  Usually a 30+ min wait would be a bit of a bummer, but with a few beers and no kids, it was was really nice

- The conversation.  I was so proud of us.  We didnt talk about the kids or work or anything grown up.  Actually we were pretty silly.  (see TMI section)

-The drive.  We didnt listen to the radio the whole way there.  We just talked.  THere were no kids yelling in the back or bugging me to turn the radio on to a certain station.

- Fancy houses.  The kids were with Brions parents playing mini golf and werent done when we were finished with dinner, so we drove around fancy neighborhoods to look at fancy houses.

-The drive home.  This time we remembered the radio.  We(mostly me) sang most of the way home.  My favorite was the Eddie Money duet.

Bad
-Nothing.  It was a really nice evening.

TMI
- our convo at dinner about whether or not the ladies next to us were going to "scissor"  later

-Brion left to go to the bathroom and when he came back he had this weird grin on his face.  He told me that for some reason he was making weird/silly faces to a guy in the bathroom who had his back to him.  Brion was washing his hands while doing so and managed to get water all over his crotch area.  Serves him right.

- when we got our check, and after Brion signed for it, he gave it to me to look over to make sure his math was good.  I drew a smiley face under his name and then turned his dotted "i" into a heart.  The TMI part is I was going to write "blow me?" next to the smiley but Brion caught me.

That was our date night.  If you read my last post, you'll see that I posted some pics of me and Brion.  After I finished, I found the one below.  Its from our senior prom.  No we werent dating.  I had a boyfriend who was older and didnt want to come to prom.  I think Brion and my sister had just broken up (oh yeah they dated for like a minute).  We look like friggen Halloween.  :)

The smartest move

So, I am NOT a sappy person.  I'm not romantic or overly emotional, but today I'm going to take a moment to mention the smartest move I've ever made.  10 years ago today, late at night, I leaned over and kissed Brion for the 1st time.  We weren't dating.  We were just friends.  But I always knew that somehow some way we would end up being more.  And from that moment on we were.

I'm not usually one to make the 1st move, but I knew it had to happen and am so glad that it did.  We were talking earlier and we both agreed at that moment we knew we would either get married or things would end badly.  I'm glad it worked out the way that did.  I love him more than ever and am so grateful for everything we have have achieved together.

Brion and do not celebrate our "dating" anniversary.  We really dont celebrate our wedding anniversary either.  Its just not our thing.  But tonight we are going out to dinner just he 2 of us(gasp)  and then coming home and playing with our kids.

Who'd a thunk that 10 years ago today, when I leaned over and put the sweet moves on him that we would end up here?  Well, I kinda always knew we would end up here.

What did we do before Google?!?

I seriously dont know if I could survive more than a few days without Google.  I use it all the time.  Having Google Now on my phone makes me even more dependent on Google.  Yesterday was an extra Googley day.  Here are some of the things I used Google for in the last 24 hours.

Boogie has been wanting to make homemade ice cream.  I dont have a clue or a machine, so I googled it.  Of course tons of things came up.  I chose this cute little video.  Boogie thought it was really cool, which only added to our ice cream making experience.

Now, I don't really like ice cream, but I'm told it was really good.  We even made it again tonight.  Boogie just wanted vanilla both times, even though I tried to get him to put some Oval-tine in there.

Earlier in the day I had planned on making Italian chicken sandwiches in the crockpot.  I was going to put the stuff in the crockpot when the kids took their nap and then run out before dinner to get the buns.  Well after both kids fell asleep I started to get out all the stuff to throw in the crockpot.  I realized I didnt have chicken broth.  I couldnt wait till the kids got up because then it would be too late.  So I Googled Italian chicken crockpot, and found a really good recipe, which I just happened to have all the ingredients for.  It was really good!  http://www.the-girl-who-ate-everything.com/2009/07/crockpot-italian-chicken.html
Not only did I get a new yummy meal, I really like the website and will probably get some more meal from there.

Last night, after I was cleaning up the kitchen, I noticed that my bananas were really ripe(that never happens, Shelby Lynn eats them like crazy).  It had been forever since I had made Banana Bread.  So I (see a pattern?) Googled it.  http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/banana_bread/ I baked the first one that popped up and it was great.

sorry, we're pigs.  I didnt get a pic right away, and this is whats left

Today we were trying out a new meat market.  I'm sick of eating dyed meat from the local groceries stores.  I was pretty sure I remembered how to get there, but was in a hurry  and didn't have time to waste,so while we were headed up there I had Brion Google it. We got there with no problems.

These weren't the only things I used Google for but the ones that stuck out in my  mind.  Maybe because they are all about food.  You should really check out the recipes.  They were all good.

GOD BLESS GOOGLE!
